Common terms to help you through the billing process:
The fixed dollar amount set by your insurance contract that is required to be paid by you at the time of the visit.
The annual dollar amount set by your insurance contract that is deducted from insurance benefits and is required to be paid by you.
The percentage set by your insurance contract that is deducted from insurance benefits and is required to be paid by you.
The dollar amount to be paid by the patient who has no insurance benefits at the time of the visit.
The estimated amount calculated using your insurance benefits, contracted rates, and procedurers the surgeon plans to do. The actual amount due may vary from the estimate after the carrier processes the claim.
A dollar amount to be paid by the patient prior to ordering a custom brace.
The document that may be sent to you by your insurance company shortly after your service. This document shows visit charges, what your insurance company has paid and how much, if any, you owe for that service.
